About a week ago I was asked by a friend of mine, Steve Morton, if I would take some publicity photos of him.  Steve is the Artistic Director of the American Chamber Chorale and now the host of Behind The Music, a new music program on St. Louis’ classical radio station KFUO.  It is for this new radio program that Steve wanted the photos in order to assist with promotional activities.  I was more than happy to help him out so we met on Saturday evening and heading out for a quick photo shoot. Woke up way too early this morning thanks to my wonderful children who for some reason didn’t realize it was too early to watch cartoons.  (Despite it still being dark at 5:30 am)  I had already planned on going out for a short photo excursion so luckily the extra early hour didn’t impede on my sleeping plans too much. We’ve all had that moment when we see something that would make the most amazing photo only to realize that we don’t have a camera with us. Even today with the abundance of pocket-sized cameras and mobile phones with built-in cameras we still tend to find ourselves in situations where either we don’t have our camera device or we simply elect not to go through the effort of pulling over the car, stopping our mad dash across the office or delaying our next non-critical meeting instead of slowing down and getting the shot. Sometimes you come across the most interesting things when you look back at old photos – especially the ones you forgot you had.  The other day when visiting my mother she presented me with a BW photo of her and his siblings.  While the photo itself was interesting for many reasons, the only thing I saw when looking at the photo was the face of my daugther Libby.  Staring back at me was Libby’s pretty face and eyes, but yet it wasn’t Libby.  The photo was of my mother when she was a child.  Needless to say it was an amazing likeness that was hard to believe at first. A week ago I had the privilege of shooting Reem and Howie’s engagement photos.  They are getting married in less than a month and everyone was beginning to get a little nervous as to whether or not any engagement photos would actually be taken.  To add to the already existing pressure the couple had decided that their wedding guest gift would be a pair of custom acrylic coasters complete with a photo of the happy couple.  It was crunch time – a photo was needed!
